RMR posted the best
combined team finish of the season on Saturday July 15th
at White Mountain after intense Friday repairs of damage
suffered Thursday evening at Thompson Int'l Speedway.
The #4 - flat tire and a wall scrape - hadn't been that
bad, but the #44 had substantial repairs completed at
Distance Racing after a hard hit into the Thompson turn
two wall.
The heats did not give an indication of how well Ben and
Travis would run in the feature, with the #44 in 7th in
the first heat and the #4 in 4th in the third heat. But
when the 150 green flag lap feature began, Ben and
Travis moved right through the field, at times running
side by side or nose to tail.
Ben took turns with father Mike Rowe to try to grab the
top spot from Scott Chubbuck but was down on power after
losing a plug wire at about the twenty lap mark. Ben
raced Scott hard and clean up to the checkers, trailing
by just about a car length at the end.
Travis took 5th place after some hard racing with Johnny
Clark and Richie Dearborn. A much better day for all
than at Thompson.
