The Friday evening
qualifying heats saw both the Richard Moody Racing cars
in the second 15 lapper. Ben started in third and moved
up to finish second.
Travis drew the final starting spot and wound up trapped
behind slower cars with no chance to advance in the
short sprint.
After a 55 minute delay for a rain shower and drying the
track, the green for the 250 fell. Ben ran in seventh
through a couple of yellows and then began a move up to
6th, 5th, 4th by lap 51, and then third by lap 70
(counting both green and yellow laps). Running with
Cassius Clark and Brad Leighton, Ben got bounced into
the main straight wall and broke an axle. The yellow #4
retired at lap 91.
Travis stated 22nd but
slipped to last (25th) with a spin on lap two. Travis
snaked his way through a multi-car tangle on lap 17 and
advanced to 17th. The #44 then moved up steadily, into
8th on lap 160 and maintained position through the
mid-race yellow when just about all the cars pitted for
tires.
Travis stands tied for 6th in the points with Ben 22
points back in 8th. |
