The Atlantic CAT
250 at Scotia
Speedworld in Halifax, NS: Starting from 12th as a 2007
race winner, Ben was running in traffic when a cluster of cars
being lapped tangled on the main straight. The #4 glanced off
the pile with the right front leaving substantial suspension
damage even though the fender was barely displaced.
A series of pit stops for some
quick repairs were not enough to get the car back in shape so a
prolonged rebuild period that took about 30 laps was necessary.
Back on the track and in great shape, Ben ran down the leaders
and passed dad Mike Rowe at one point. On lap 148 Ben set
fast time of the race at a 14.163
versus Mike's best of 14.184 and Johnny Clark's best of 14.247.
But the pit time placed the #4 in 15th. With Mike winning his
heat and the race, Ben lost a substantial portion of his points
lead and now stands only 8 points ahead - 2164 to Mike's 2156. |
