2nd Place Run at WMMP
The Richard Moody Racing #4n headed
into the final PASS North Super Late Model race of 2009
with Johnny Clark leading by 33 points.
White Mountain is one of Ben's best tracks and the #4
was fast in practice>
But setup changes prior to the heat slowed the car right
down. Ben could not even make it up from a 10th place
draw into the top six to transfer to to the feature. The
chassis was quickly changed back to the practice
settings and Ben raced into second place in the consi.
In the 150 lapper, Ben charged up from 20th on the grid
to take second from Kelly Moore in the #47. But Richie
Dearborn was flying up front after starting on the pole,
sometimes with a half lap lead. Dearborn led every lap
and pulled away at several restarts to be the 10th
different feature winner in the PASS North 2009 season.
With the heat win and the fifth place finish, Johnny
Clark lost only one point of his standings lead to
capture the 2009 SLM Championship with 2799 points to
Ben's 2767.
Ben and Johnny are now tied with four PASS North SLM
championships each. Sam Sessions was the champion in the
first season of the tour.
Attention turns to the remaining PASS southern races
where Ben is leading both the PASS South and PASS
National series. PASS South has three remaining events
while the National has two more rounds. |
